Pricing FAQ
- What counts as a "device"?
- One Raspberry Pi running the LoopString agent = one device. Sensors and actuators wired to that Pi are not counted separately — only the Pi itself counts against your device quota.
- Do I need to buy a Raspberry Pi from you?
- No — you bring your own Pi. Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 with any model is supported (32 GB SD card and a power supply recommended). We do not sell hardware. The Configurator generates Node-RED flows that deploy to a Pi you already own.
- What happens if I exceed my plan's write quota?
- Writes are rate-limited rather than billed-overage: you continue to receive sensor data on the dashboard, but high-frequency writes get throttled. A QuotaExceededBanner appears in the app and links directly to upgrade or to talk to the team. No surprise invoices.
- Is there an annual discount?
- Yes — annual billing is two months free across all paid tiers (effectively 16% off the monthly equivalent). Switch in Settings → Billing once you are on a paid plan, or contact founders@loopstring.io for annual quotes at signup.
- Can I cancel any time?
- Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing and your plan continues until the end of the current billing period. Your devices keep working on the free tier limits after that. No questions asked, no retention call.
- Can I downgrade?
- Yes, but if you have more devices, sensor slots, or rooms than the lower tier allows, you will be asked to remove the excess before the downgrade takes effect. The dashboard surfaces which items push you over the new limit.
- I need something custom — SLA, SAML, dedicated infra, on-prem?
- That is the Enterprise tier. Common asks: SAML / OIDC SSO, contractual SLA, named onboarding engineer, dedicated Firestore project, custom integrations (OPC-UA, vendor-specific APIs). Email founders@loopstring.io with what you need and we will scope it.
- Do you offer refunds?
- Yes — within 14 days of a paid subscription start, no questions asked. Refunds processed via Stripe back to your original payment method. Outside the 14-day window we evaluate case-by-case; we have never said no to a reasonable request.
